I was pretty worried at first, as I had not practise a lot on jogging, and 21km is really too long a distance, which I'm not physically prepared for it. Wow, I was excited when I reached the starting point at 2am today, and my race will begin at 3.15am! We wore pink singlet, sponsored by New Balance, and here's my running bib:
see, my name was printed on it!
this is me! all prepared for the race :D
Amy, Me, and Leng! We're so energetic!
this is me! all prepared for the race :DAs the countdown hit 3, 2 and 1, all the ladies run! Along with it, there was lion dance accompanied by drum performance! Energetic! I jogged for about 1km and then I was out of breath and started walking. Surprisingly, it was not too cold to jog in the morning with singlet, but the wind was quite strong on the bridge. As I reach almost the supporting structure of the bridge, I thought, owh, I must have reached quite far.. who knows, the sign board turned up: Half Marathon (5km). What?? I've just walked for 5km only? OMG!
Then I continued and along the road, there were water stations, you can get water, isotonic drinks or sometimes sponges to wash your face. The U-turn for half marathon on the penang bridge was located quite far from the triangle structural support, which was out of my expectation. As I walked, I could feel pain accumulating in my legs. First with pelvis, then stretched to my thigh and calf. The pain was so intense that I would have stop my journey. But I insisted to continue non-stop and I really made it to the finishing line. This had proven to me, 'the mind controls the body' and what actually had moved me was the music I saved in my phone. The last 6km was very torturing, and it forever seemed like never-ending. Argh!
In the end, I spent 4 hours to complete the run. Hooray!

The medal I got at the finishing line (Real heavy, made from pewter).
Till then, I still couldn't believe I've actually made it through the distance. However, this would be the furthest I can go. Trust me, I will never go for Full Marathon which was 42km! I came back to room after breakfast, bathed and slept. But I was awaken by the intense pain on my legs and I could hardly walk...... :(
